Annuities · retirement income

Turn savings into income you can't outlive.

An annuity is a contract with an insurance company. You give it a sum of money, and it gives you protection from market losses, guaranteed growth, or a paycheck for life. It isn't right for every dollar, so we start with your whole plan.

Types of annuities I work with

Different tools for different jobs

Fixed (MYGA)
A guaranteed interest rate for a set term, often 3 to 7 years. Similar in spirit to a CD, issued by an insurance company.
Fixed indexed
Interest is linked to a market index, up to a cap or participation rate, with no losses when the index falls. Often paired with an optional income rider.
Immediate income
Hand over a lump sum and start receiving monthly income right away, for a set period or for life.
Rollovers
Leaving a job or retiring? A 401(k), 403(b), TSP or IRA can often be moved into an annuity without triggering taxes when it's done as a direct rollover.

Is it a fit?

Questions we answer first

How much will you need to reach?

Annuities have surrender periods. Money you may need in the next few years should stay somewhere more liquid.

What's your income gap?

We compare Social Security, pensions and other income to your monthly expenses to see what's missing.

How do you feel about risk?

If a market drop right before retirement would change your plans, protecting part of your savings may be worth it.

Important: Annuities are insurance products. They are not bank deposits, are not FDIC insured, and are not guaranteed by any bank. Guarantees are backed by the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Withdrawals during the surrender period may be subject to charges, and withdrawals before age 59½ may be subject to a 10% IRS penalty. I am not a tax or legal advisor; please consult yours about your situation.
